Zimbabwe beat Canada in bowl-out
Twenty20 tournament, King City: Canada 135-7 (20 ovs) tied with Zimbabwe 135-9 (20 ovs)
Zimbabwe won 3-1 after bowl-outMatch scorecard
Zimbabwe won a bowl-out against Canada after their match in the quadrangular Twenty20 event in King City was tied.
Both sides made 135, Canada opener Rizwan Cheema hitting two sixes in his 23 from 11 balls, while Karun Jethi also hit two sixes in his 24.
Zimbabwe needed 10 from the final over, but Prosper Utseya was run-out off the final ball attempting a second run.
Canada's Harvir Baidwan, Sunil Dhaniram and Abdool Samad all failed in the bowl-out to hand Zimbabwe victory.
Zimbabwe lost debutant Cephas Zhuwawo to the second ball of their reply but remained in a good position despite failing to hit a boundary for more than four overs prior to the 20th.
Baidwan bowled the decisive final over and had Maruma and Tatenda Taibu both caught on the long-on boundary with the first two balls.
Six were needed from the final two but a misfield allowed a boundary after 33 balls without one.
Then came the leg-bye to set-up the shoot-out between the bowlers, with Canada losing as Baidwan and Dhaniram missed and Samad no-balled, with Utseya, Chamu Chibhabha and Taibu all successful for Zimbabwe.
