Wanderers spring surprise CI win
Wanderers upset the form book to defeat unbeaten Cobo by four wickets in the CI Championship final on Saturday.
Batting first at the KGV, Cobo were restricted to 152-9 as they struggled to cope the outstanding bowling and fielding of Wanderers.
Spinner Phil Challenger took 3-17 and Pierre Moody 3-43.
Captain Ben Driver then hit an unbeaten 59 as he and Ben Taylor put on 50 for the fifth wicket to guide Wanderers home with two overs to spare.
"It was an excellent win and very good team effort all round,. The team have put a lot in and got our just reward," Wanderers' Dave Piesing told BBC Guernsey.
Cobo had earlier started strongly and were 40 without loss after 10 overs.
But Matt Oliver, Jeremy Frith and Stuart le Prevost all went cheaply before veteran Peter Vidamour, playing his final match before retirement, steadied the ship with 61.
Wanderers also started poorly with the bat, with opener Spencer Noyan being run out early on.
Cobo then stepped up the pressure and after Ross Kneller was bowled by Jeremy Frith for 28 and Will Thompson was out lbw to Jamie Nussbaumer Wanderers were in trouble at 75 for 4.
But then Driver and Taylor to steer them towards victory, with Driver picking up the man of the match award.
