Berks set Herefordshire big score

Jono McLean

Herefordshire's batsmen are chasing their fourth-highest ever total in their Minor Counties Championship match with Berkshire at Finchampstead.

The visitors were set 417 to win after Berkshire declared on 234-3, with David Barnes 123 not out.

Herefordshire are 17-1 in their second innings, having been bowled out for 224 on day two. David Griffiths took 4-72.

Jono McLean and Steve Naylor both made centuries for Berkshire in the first innings total of 406-9.

Herefordshire skipper Chris Boroughs told BBC Hereford and Worcester:

"We want to be a tougher side to beat then we have been over the past couple of years.

"That comes from our batters showing some character and resolve."
