Skipper Wright helps Vics to draw

Jonathon Wright

Kidderminster Victoria came away from Walmley with a draw in the Birmingham League Premier Division.

Chasing 247, the Vics were in trouble before skipper Jonathon Wright led the recovery with 86 runs, and they ended on 195-7.

Ombersley kept up their hopes of promotion from Division Two, as former Worcestershire spinner Matt Rawnsley took 6-31, bowling out Newport for 113.

Joey Robinson with 39, and Matt Oakley (27 not out) steered Ombersley home.

Old Elizabethans drew with leaders Smethwick who made 236-5 but stubborn efforts from Simon Macey (67) and Dave Phillips (48) thwarted Smethwick as they ended on 199-7.

Evesham were well beaten at home to Water Orton, after being bowled out for 107, losing by six wickets.

Skipper Chris Boroughs took 3-23, as Brockhampton dismissed Olton & W.W. for 72, and the Herefordshire side wasted little time, needing 18.4 overs to race to victory.

Kington racked up 249-7 at Lichfield, with outstanding contributions from David Exall (93) and Owain Morgan (54) before a shell-shocked home side responded with 77 all out, as Dharshana Gamage ran amok with 7- 40.
