England hero Monty Panesar is confident his team can complete a superb comeback in the second Test at Old Trafford.
The left-arm spinner took a career-best 6-37 as England bowled New Zealand out for 144 in their second innings.
That meant England were set a target of 294 and they will need a further 218 after closing the third day on a 76-1.
"They set us a good platform, we know it's a tough pitch but we've got a strong batting line-up and hopefully we can knock the runs off," he said.
"The game's moved forward a lot," Panesar added.
"The variation in the pitch was enough to get some wickets, some were turning some were sliding.
"The way the ball spins out of the rough and the uneven bounce really helps me."
It is quite likely that the outcome of the match will hinge upon New Zealand's own star spinner Daniel Vettori, who took his 15th five-wicket haul in the first innings and picked up Alastair Cook second time around shortly before stumps.
"I always like to see how he bowls and the variation he uses is something I can add into my game in the years to come," Panesar said.
"He's a world-class spinner and is going to be a huge factor."
Meanwhile, New Zealand seamer Iain O'Brien believes his side are still in the driving seat, with England some way short of the finishing line.
The 31-year-old conceded just nine runs from his six overs in England's second innings and he believes his side hold a key player in skipper Vettori.
"There is a good mood in the dressing room," he said. "Sixteen wickets fell in one day so we have to be confident it will be the same on Monday.
"Maybe England are back in the match but with the pitch doing quite a bit they have plenty of runs to get yet.
"We will be looking to Dan to lead the attack, with the state of the pitch as it is. But we have a chance to get them from both ends so there is no reason why we can't all chip in."
