Teenagers lead the way on day one

Cricket

Argyll Investment's teenagers led them to a win on the opening day of the Carey Olsen GCA Championship on 10 May.

Clubhouse Optimists slid from 120 for two to 165 all-out with leg-spinner Alex Fisher taking 3 for 20.

Dave Hooper was among the seven teens in the Argylls team and made 48 in a partnership of 95 with Simon Huxtable.

After a mid-innings collapse Tom Kimber and Adam Martel steadied nerves to see their team home with five overs and four wickets to spare.

Kimber hit the winning runs in making an unbeaten 28 on his 18th birthday.

In the day's other fixture title favourites Total Cobo convincingly beat Elizabeth College at the College Field.
