Oval Test row compensation agreed

Inzamam-ul-Haq and Darrell Hair The Pakistan and England and Wales Cricket Boards have reached a settlement over compensation for the forfeited Oval Test.

Pakistan will a play Twenty20 match in England in 2012 and waive the fee.

Pakistan forfeited the fourth Test last August when they refused to take to the field after being penalised for altering the state of the ball.

The match was abandoned on the fourth day and the ECB had asked the PCB to pay compensation for lost revenue.

ECB chief executive David Collier said: "The meetings with PCB demonstrated the goodwill and desire of both boards to find a cricketing solution to the issues arising from The Oval Test match."

It has been agreed by both boards the proposed tour of Pakistan by England in 2010 be postponed until January 2012 and will comprise three Test matches and five one-day internationals.

Pakistan will reciprocate with a tour to the UK in late June, July and August 2012 and also play three Tests and five ODIs.

But, in addition to those matches the PCB has agreed to play a non-reciprocal Twenty20 International during their tour to the UK and shall waive the right to a fee for this match to settle the Oval compensation claim.

The ICC has yet to agree to the settlement.
