Bangladesh lost the second Test against Pakistan by an innings and 169 runs as pacemen Shoaib Akhtar and Waqar Younis took four wickets apiece.

The second session on day three saw five wickets fall - three for paceman Shoaib and two for off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq.

That made things 147 for eight, and Bangladesh were never likely to continue things much longer in the final session of day three.

After Waqar had removed numbers one, two and three with the new ball, Shoaib got going after lunch.

Procession

All his victims were bowled - Aminul Islam for two, Enamul Haque for nine, Fahim Muntasir for two and Mohammad Sharif for a duck.

The final wicket came when Manjural Islam edged Waqar to gully for a six-ball duck.

Earlier, Yousuf Youhana made an unbeaten 204, the highest score of his Test career, as Pakistan moved towards victory.

The right-hander hit two sixes and 34 fours in an innings lasting five hours and 13 minutes as he surpassed his 203 against New Zealand in Christchurch last year.

Exposed

Pakistan eventually declared with a commanding lead of 317 and Bangladesh's batting frailties were again exposed when they began their second innings.

They began the third day on 429 for seven with Youhana, who was dropped by Fahim Muntasir when he had made 113, needing another 26 for his double century.

Partner Saqlain did not survive for long as he was caught for seven off Sharif.

It was the fourth wicket for the 16-year-old medium-pacer, who finished with figures of four for 98, the best of his brief Test career.

Shoaib was dismissed by Manjural Islam for two with the score on 447, but Youhana progressed safely to his 200 before skipper Younis brought the innings to a halt.

Bangladesh lose the series 2-0, and they have now recorded an unwelcome seven Test defeats in a row by an innings.
