I may quit if I lose, says Hatton

Ricky Hatton says he will probably quit if he loses to IBF light welterweight champion Paul Malignaggi in November.

Since suffering a first career loss in 2007, Hatton has fought once - a win over Juan Lazcano, which he says was not his best but denied he was past it.

"I can understand why people say maybe time has caught up with me, maybe I'm showing signs of wear and tear but I don't know that," stated Hatton, 30.

When asked if he would retire if he lost he said: "I probably would, yeah."

Hatton suffered the only defeat of his 45-bout career in December last year when he was knocked out by Floyd Mayweather Jr.

He is now being trained by Floyd Mayweather Sr for his bout with Malignaggi in Las Vegas.

Mayweather Jr has now retired, but Hatton says he would relish a rematch if he were to reverse his decision - but he admitted it would be "a touchy subject" for his new trainer.

"Floyd nr is of the opinion that Floyd Jr has forgotten that his dad helped him to get to the top, but I'm not going to ask too many questions about their relationship," he said.
