Nate Campbell's fight against Joan Guzman was called off four hours before their bout when the Dominican claimed he was feeling unwell.
American Campbell had been due to defend his WBA, WBO and IBF lightweight world crowns at Biloxi, Mississippi.
But the match-up became a non-title fight after Guzman failed to make the 135lb (61kg) weight limit on Friday.
"I did all that I could to make it happen - I said that I'd fight him no matter what he weighed," said Campbell.
Guzman (28-0, 17 knockouts) vacated his WBO junior lightweight crown for the chance to fight Campbell (32-5-1, 25 KOs).
Also in Biloxi, Timothy Bradley successfully defended his WBC light-welterweight belt, outpointing Edner Cherry of the Bahamas in a unanimous decision.
Bradley (23-0) had winning scores of 119-109, 118-109 and 117-110.
The 25-year-old American was making the first defence of the title he took from Britain's Junior Witter on 10 May.
Midway through the eighth round, Bradley floored Cherry with a flush overhand right. Cherry regrouped, but could not gain any momentum against the champion.
Cherry, 26, who dropped to 24-6-2, said: "Bradley is a tough fighter. He is slick and has good head movement. He's a true champion and he came to fight."
WBA welterweight champion Andreas Kotelnik defended his title with a unanimous points decision win over Japan's Norio Kimura in Lviv, Ukraine.
Kotelnik (30-2-1, 13 KOs) now resides in Hamburg but was fighting in the city of his birth and put on an impressive display for his home fans.
The judges scored the fight 118-110, 119-109 and 119-109 for Kotelnik, 30, who won his title from Welshman Gavin Rees in Cardiff on 22 March.
