Limond to peak for postponed bout

Scotland's Willie Limond

Willie Limond has vowed to be in prime condition for his rescheduled fight against Dmitriy Salita.

The Scotsman, 29, was due to face the US-based Ukrainian on 20 September in New York on the undercard of Joe Calzaghe's bout with Roy Jones Jr.

But the Welshman's wrist injury has forced a postponement until November.

"I'm very disappointed, but the delay also gives me time to prepare more thoroughly for the light-welterweight division," Limond said.

Limond has only been beaten twice in his 30 fights, most recently relinquishing his Commonwealth lightweight title to Amir Khan at London's O2 Arena in July 2007.

"At least the show will still go on in November," he said.

"I will be staying in the gym preparing for this fight and working to build myself up and get in shape for the higher weight division."

Although it has not been decided what title belt Limond and Salita will contest, their fight will be over 12 rounds for one of the light-welterweight division's vacant straps.

That means the opportunity for the Glasgow boxer to add to his EU super-featherweight, Celtic super-featherweight, Commonwealth lightweight and IBO intercontinental lightweight titles to become a three-division champion.

"Salita looks like a good fighter going by the footage I have seen so far," Limond added.

Can Limond beat Salita?

"I'm going to have to be on top of my game to pull this one off.

"I'm also looking forward to hopefully winning another title so I can say that I have won titles in three different weight divisions."
