Kirkby-based Serbian middleweight Geard Ajetovic feels he beat IBO Middleweight champion Daniel Geale on Friday.
The 27-year-old counter-puncher suffered his second career defeat as all three judges scored the fight for the Australian champion.
"From the first round until the sixth he tried to get his head out and I caught him a couple of times," Ajetovic told BBC Radio Merseyside.
"He didn't want to fight. After six I calmed down. I think I won the fight."
Two judges scored the fight 117-111 in Geale's favour, with the other plumping for a wider margin of 120-109.
"Another three or four fights and I hope to fight for a belt again"
Ajetovic acknowledges that he did not force the pace enough to catch the judges' eyes.
"This is a judges' decision and I can't do anything about it.
"I didn't land enough shots. I had plenty more in my body, my strength is unbelievable.
"I have been lazy in the fight because I thought I was winning easy.
"I didn't rate Daniel Geale as a big boxer and I really played with him in the ring."
If the two men were to meet again Ajetovic says he would do things differently but for now he is just looking to the future.
"From here now? Another three or four fights and I hope to fight for a belt again."
