Couch goes on her own
Jane Couch has decided to turn promoter for one night only, with the main event being a defence of her world title.
The 33-year-old will stage a black-tie show at the Thistle hotel in Bristol on 8 December, with her WBF light welterweight title fight against Russian Boriflava Guronova being the only fight of the night.
All profits from the show will go to charity.
"
I can tell you that I'm never going to do it again - it has interfered with my training
"
Jane Couch on being a promoter
Despite being Britain's leading female boxer, Couch has endured years of frustration, with fights frequently cancelled and her efforts seldom rewarded financially.
She decided to take such drastic action after Bristol promoter Chris Sanigar cancelled a show that she was to appear on.
Unsurprisingly, putting together an event has placed a financial burden on Couch.
"At the moment, I'm into the bank for £7000," Couch told BBC Sport Online.
"I can tell you that I'm never going to do it again - it has interfered with my training!"
She also hopes to raise more money for charity with an auction, with items donated by Bristol Rovers, Bristol City, Bristol Shoguns, West Ham and Gloucester Cricket Club.
