Sirimongkol clinches WBC title
Thailand's Sirimongkol Singmanassuk knocked out Japan's Kengo Nagashima to win the World Boxing Council super featherweight title on Saturday.
The 25-year-old, who is ranked top by the WBC, ended the contest with a powerful right hook two minutes and 22 seconds into the second round.
A confident Sirimongkol had vowed to retire had he lost the fight for the title which was vacant after being renounced by Floyd Mayweather.
The victory brought Sirimongkol his first world title since he lost the WBC bantamweight crown in 1997.
He will make his first defence against Mexico's Jesus Chavez.
