Repeat wins for Mutai and Jumma

Kenyan John Mutai won the Belfast Marathon again

Kenyan John Mutai retained his Belfast Marathon crown by winning the 2008 event in two hours, 16 minutes and 31 seconds on Monday.

Bogdan Dziuba from Poland was the runner-up with Ukraine's Vyacheslav Prykhodko finsihing in third.

In the women's race, 2007 winner Marashet Jumma from Ethiopia broke the record by more than two minutes by winning in 2:39.22.

Donegal's Helena Crossan was runner-up with Cookstown's Karen Alexander third.

The marathon attracted 1900 entries with 1741 teams in the relay event.

Top local male finisher was twice-winner Tommy Hughes of Magherafelt, who came sixth in 2:28.38, 10 minutes ahead of Dungannon's Delfin Pimentell.
