Williamson joins Chambers in team

Simeon Williamson Simeon Williamson has been selected to contest the 60m alongside controversial sprinter Dwain Chambers at next month's World Indoor Championships.

The 22-year-old, who had been training with Chambers this season, was named in Britain's second wave of selections for the Valencia event on 7-9 March.

Craig Pickering dropped out of the running after injuring his hamstring.

Chambers, who served a two-year drugs ban, guaranteed his selection by winning the trials from Williamson.

UK Athletics had opposed the selection of Chambers because of his doping past but admitted its selection criteria gave them "no room to take any other decision".

Williamson said after the trials: "Dwain has done his time and I have no problem with him running."

The 22-year-old has been in impressive form this season, finishing second behind Chambers at the World Indoor trials before lowering his personal best to 6.57 seconds in Birmingham.

UK Athletics performance director Dave Collins said: "Simeon has had a fantastic indoor season and come through and coped very well under the amount of pressure and attention, and I look forward to seeing how he does.

"He is one for the future, but it is great to have so many for the future."

Other additions to the squad include, European 5,000m silver medallist Mo Farah and Nick McCormick in the 3,000m.

Farah is a late addition after initially ruling out an indoor season.

Michael East continued his comeback from two serious knee operations by winning selection in the 1500m while Damien Moss takes the second 800m spot.

Lisa Dobriskey will join previously selected Helen Clitheroe in the line-up for the 3,000m.
