Season over for injured Gardener
Sprinter Jason Gardener will not race again this season as he takes time out to have an operation to cure an ongoing back injury.
The 30-year-old Olympic sprint relay champion from Bath has been suffering with the back problem all year.
He will see a specialist and expects to undergo surgery which will see him in plaster for up to two months.
"I have to get this sorted out once and for all and get myself ready for the next indoor season," he said.
The injury has forced the Gardener to pull out of the 4x100m relay at the Commonwealth Games as well as the European Cup at the end of June.
