Michael Allen added more than four metres to his domestic record at the Northern Ireland Athletics Championship at the Mary Peters Track on Saturday.
The Abbey AC star threw a massive 79.55 metres with his third attempt, having previously held the record of 75.43.
Anna Boyle and Paul Brizzel were in fine form in the sprints.
Boyle ran 11.3 seconds in the women's 100m and Brizzel 10.3 in the men's, but the times will not stand as NI records as there was too much wind assistance.
Brizzel produced an impressive run to finish ahead of Idrissa Sanou of Burkina Faso (10.45) and partially-sighted Eglinton sprinter Jason Smyth (10.56).
Smyth is currently doing his A-Levels but later in the summer hopes to compete at both the World Junior Championships in Beijing as well as the outdoor World Paralympic Games.
Boyle opted not to go in the 200 which was won by another World Junior Championship hopeful Amy Foster in 24.21 seconds.
Earlier, North Down prospect Foster had clocked 11.68 to take second in the 100m behind Boyle with Ailis McSweeney surprisingly only third in 11.70 despite the seven metres per second wind reading.
Ulster and Irish Schools champion Rhiannon McNally improved her own NI record in the hammer with a throw of 50.85 metres.
Gareth Turnbull produced a third-lap blast on his way to winning the men's 1500 metres while Kelly Reid triumphed in the women's race.
Turnbull's time of 3:49.55 left him nearly six seconds ahead of Paul Pollock.
Paul McKee rounded off the day's action with an impressive 200m win.
McKee's expected duel with Brizzel did not materialise with the 100m winner opting out of the 200m final because of a niggle but the west Belfastman showed a fine turn of speed to win in 21.06.
The wind reading was only slightly over the legal limit at 2.8 metres per second which augured well from McKee's first serious 400m of the year on Tuesday in Bratislava.
England's Rob Newton won both of the men's hurdles races.
