El Guerrouj to miss World Champs
Double Olympic champion Hicham El Guerrouj has pulled out of the World Indoor Championships.
El Guerrouj, 31, said he was not ready for the event, which takes place in Moscow in March.
The Morrocan middle distance star said he did plan to run outdoor this year after missing last year's season through injury.
"I will return to the track in the summer to compete in events such as the Golden League," he said.
The four-times world 1,500 metres champion said his comeback had been delayed by a back injury.
He also said he wanted to devote more time to his family.
"My preparations to regain my best performance level have been delayed," he said.
"As a result I will not take part in the Moscow indoor championships."
