Sean Beck receives the October player of the month award

The Cymru Alliance programme almost came to a grinding halt, but two fixtures did survive the driving rain and gale force conditions.

It was a huge surprise to see the Flint Town United game going ahead with its ground residing on the Dee Estuary.

Prior to their clash with Berriew, skipper Sean Beck was presented with the Player of the Month for Award for October. He was crowned player of the season in May and surely he is already well on his way to retaining this crown.

The pitch, although passed playable, did not lend itself to pretty football, but Flint did adapt well and were able to make the first impression and in the ninth minute a long throw by John Davies was latched onto by Beck who swivelled and watch agonisingly as his shot was denied by the upright.

Paul Williams was instrumental in Flint's victory

However, Paul Williams turned in the rebound from 10 yards out.

It stayed that way until the 49th minute when man of the moment Beck did get on the score-sheet and following a trip on Simon Thelwell, Beck converted the resulting penalty.

Berriew then wilted and from being provided, Thelwell scored with a bullet header from a Williams cross.

Guilsfield were back on the winning trail and defeated Mold Alex 4-0.

The much-travelled Tim Nunnerley had a field day and exposed the Mold tactics of playing with just three defenders.

His 15th minute goal separated the sides at the break, but Mold capitulated late on, allowing Nunnerley to complete his hat-trick and Ross Frame to cement the success with the game's last action.

The major talking point at the weekend, however, was the breaking news that Simon Segwick has filled the vacant manager's position at Caernarfon Town and he will become the third Canaries manager in less than six months.

Sedgwick is a wise old owl and he is likely to give everyone at the club every chance to prove themselves before he starts to bring in new faces.
