Delaney eyes up Wales recall
![]() Delaney in action for Villa - he now wants a Wales recall
Mark Delaney could be recalled to the Wales side before he plays a first team match for his club Aston Villa this season.
The Villa wing-back injured the medial ligaments in his knee in a pre-season friendly at non-league Tamworth at the beginning of August. But after a few games for Villa's reserves he is in contention for Mark Hughes' Wales side ahead of Saturday's World Cup qualifier against Norway. "I missed Wales' first game, which was disappointing, but I am determined to make it up," said Delaney.
If he does gain another cap it will be welcome news to Cardiff City - Delaney's club before his Villa move. The Bluebirds would stand to gain another £50,000 thanks to the terms of Delaney's contract. All now depends on Mark Hughes' team selection. "It is up to the man if he picks me. "But I need games, I need to play to give Mark Hughes and John Gregory [Villa manager] a headache," Delaney said. |
