Pembridge and Savage doubts
Andy Johnson

Everton midfielder Mark Pembridge is unlikely to figure in Mark Hughes' plans for Norway on Saturday, because of his continued calf problems which have stopped him from playing at all this season.

There was more bad news for manager Hughes as an ankle injury prevented Robbie Savage training with the first-team squad on Tuesday.

Savage is currently riding high at the top of the Premiership with Leicester City.

Wales may be facing something of a midfield injury crisis as Charlton's John Robinson also did not train.

The development follows Monday's mixed news surrounding Eddie Niedzwiecki and Andy Johnson.

Johnson is out as Wales build-up to the crucial World Cup Qualifier against Norway.

Former Chelsea and Wales keeper Niedzwiecki has been given clearance by Chelsea to help Wales under 21 manager Jimmy Shoulder and the senior squad with goalkeeping.

Buoyant mood

Niedzwiecki has not been involved with the Welsh set-up since the 2-1 away win over Belarus a year ago.

The Wales manager was in buoyant mood at Niedzwiecki's return.

"He was enthusiastic the last time he was here and it's great for the squad - the lads enjoy his presence," said Hughes of the Chelsea man.

"Eddie's situation at club level has changed and the new manager Claudio Ranieri was OK about him working with Wales," Hughes added.

"I now have the same people on board as when I took the job initially."

Kit deal

The Football Association of Wales has announced a new kit deal with Italian manufacturer Kappa.

It lasts four years and covers the senior side, under 21s, youth team, women and girls.

Owen Hargreaves

The eligibility wrangle surrounding Bayern Munich's Owen Hargreaves may be resolved in the near future.

Mark Hughes is to fly to Germany for talks with the youngster who is qualified to play for Wales, England and Canada.

Hargreaves would be a contender for the Wales under 21 squad, but is still to decide his national allegiance.
