Ice fans snap up tickets
Stevie Lyle will be back between the pipes in Cardiff
Stevie Lyle will be back between the pipes in Cardiff
The presence of NHL legend Marty McSorley looks set to ensure a four-figure crowd for Wednesday's Great Britain v Cardiff Devils beenfit match at the Wales National Ice Rink (7pm).

Former Los Angeles star McSorley, who is interested in taking over the Welsh club along with brother Chris, will play in a star-studded side.

Former Devils Stevie Lyle, Ivan Matulik, Alan Schuler and Ian McIntyre are all expected to play, while Steve Moria have been freed by Nottingham Panthers to return for the game and Steve Thornton has been named in both squads.

Proceeds of the night will be split between the Ice Hockey UK programme and a fund set up to pay the wages of last season's Devils players.

Quality hockey

Chris McSorley, who will coach the Great Britain side, said: "I'm proud that Marty has decided to give up his time like this.

"He has heard of the difficulties of the Devils players and knows Ice Hockey UK struggles to afford the comprehensive training camp we need to fulfil our goal of reaching the 2006 Olympics.

"This is an excellent opportunity to help two worthy causes. It is going to be a night of quality hockey and good fun."

Cardiff Devils fans, who have refused to watch this season's British National League team in a row over club ownership, are organising the match in conjunction with rink staff.

Tickets cost 15 (balcony), 10 (adults), 5 (concessions) and are available from the WNIR.
