Gavin Gordon: Must fight for his palce
Cardiff City have completed the 550,000 signing of 21-year-old centre forward Gavin Gordon from Lincoln City.

The club record deal looked to be in doubt last week when Cardiff owner Sam Hammam insisted that Gordon agreed not to play for Jamaica.

Although such a clause in a contract is illegal, it is understood that a verbal agreement has been reached between Hammam and Gordon that if Jamaica selected him to play he would turn them down.

The 6ft 1in forward saw Cardiff beat Cheltenham Town 3-1 on Saturday and realises that he faces a battle to command a regular first team place.

Robert Earnshaw has been in scintillating form so far this season, and target-man Leo Fortune-West is beginning to settle down following his recent 300,000 move from Rotherham.

More signings

Hammam is continuing his search for new players, with a goalkeeper one his main priorities.

A move for Scotland under 21goalkeeper Jamie Langfield looks likely this week.

Last week, Brighton rejected a 1.2m offer for striker Bobby Zamora.
