Jonathan Agnew
A ridiculously youthful Aggers relaxes in days gone by
Aggers was a successful county cricketer with Leicestershire from 1978, playing in three Tests for England.
A fast bowler with the ability to swing the ball, he took 101 first class wickets in the 1987 season and 93 the following year. He retired from first-class cricket at the end of the 1990 season to be the cricket correspondent of Today newspaper, but was appointed BBC Cricket Correspondent for the start of the 1991 season. He made his ball-by-ball commentary debut for the final Test of that season, enjoying the chance to get his tongue round the names of the Sri Lankan cricketers. |
