Claridge made his league debut for Bournemouth in 1984 before completing a move to Leicester City for £1.2m.
Later that year he hit the winning goal as Leicester beat Crystal Palace in the first division play-off final, and the following year he repeated the trick in the League Cup final.
Now player-manager of Weymouth, Claridge has scored 300 goals for 11 clubs.
He believes the 800m and swimming will be his strongest events, but last shot arrows 20 years ago, and claims never to have ridden a bike.
More than anything, he would like to go outdo former Millwall colleague Dennis Wise.
