Harrington wins back-to-back Opens
Padraig Harrington successfully defended his Open Championship title with a four-shot victory over Ian Poulter at Royal Birkdale.
The Irishman, 36, fired a closing 69 to end three-over-par as England's Poulter moved up the leaderboard after also going round in 69.
Harrington, who beat Sergio Garcia in a play-off to win at Carnoustie last year, was a major doubt in the days leading up to the event after injuring his wrist winning the Irish PGA.
But the Dubliner recovered to overhaul his illustrious Australian playing partner Greg Norman in the final round and become the first European to successfully defend the Open since James Braid in 1906.
