Sports Personality of the Year, BBC One, December 12 2000-2215 GMT Roll of honour: All the winners

Nominations for the 2004 BBC Sports Personality of the Year award have now closed. Thank you to everyone who has registered their choice.

A shortlist of contenders will be announced during the Sports Review of the Year Show on BBC One on Sunday (2000-2215 GMT).

Viewers will be invited to vote for their favourite from the shortlist via phone, text or interactive television.

A separate public vote will take place for the Team of the Year award.

Several other awards will also be presented including Overseas Personality and Coach of the Year.

Steve Rider, Sue Barker and Gary Lineker will host the programme, live from BBC Television Centre, with some of the biggest stars from the world of sport in attendance.
