Val d'Isere, France
Ski Sunday will be in Val d'Isere on 9 December at 1630 GMT on BBC Two

Elevation Area: 1850m - summit: 3590m

With 104 World Cup races from 1968 to 1998, Val d'Isere has been one of the major stops on the World Cup since the tour's creation.

This area also hosted the men's Olympic competition in 1992.

In fact, the triumphs of some of its greatest champions put Val d'Isere on the map as a top alpine location.

Val d'Isere remains a classic on the World Cup road.

Snow kingdom

The World Cup races are held on the Bellevarde/La Daille section of the impressive Espace Killy area that connects Val d'Isere to Tignes.

The kingdom of skiing and snowboarding, Val d'Isère and the Espace Killy offers miles of skiing.

With 136 slopes, more than 300km, and 96 ski lifts taking 130,000 skiers uphill an hour, the Espace Killy offers runs for everybody.

The top of the slopes can be reached in less than five minutes, where you can then choose your mountain, and slope, according to your level.

Shy beginner, Olympic champion, skier, snowboarder, or into the off-piste zone, you will enjoy the snow every year in Val d'Isere.
