Frank Bruno

British boxing hero Frank Bruno

Former world heavyweight boxing champ Frank Bruno was said by his nemesis Mike Tyson to have packed the hardest punch he ever took.

Since retiring from the sport, Frank has remained one of Britain's best-loved sporting personalities.

He is a member of equity and appears in pantomime year after year. He regularly makes guest appearances on TV and has been on This is Your Life.

Lennox Lewis was crowned undisputed world heavyweight champion in November 1999, and currently holds the WBO and IBF titles.

Born in West Ham in September 1965, he lived in London until the age of 12 when his family started a new life in Ontario.

Lewis fancied becoming a fireman but joined a local boxing club and went on to win 75 of his 82 amateur bouts, 58 by knockouts.

Lewis returned to Britain to go pro, winning his June 1989 debut in two rounds and going on to 20 straight victories, 17 by KO and 10 within three rounds.

    Matthew Pinsent

If anyone else had won three consecutive Olympic gold medals, it would have been headline news.

But when Matthew Pinsent achieved this notable feat, he was somewhat overshadowed by the escapades of a certain Mr S Redgrave and his five Olympic titles.

Like Redgrave, Pinsent needed downtime after the euphoria of Sydney to rest and reassess.

Unlike his team-mate, who chose to retire, Pinsent has recently decided to press on and aim for Athens 2004.

    Tony McCoy

Jockey Tony McCoy has smashed every record in the book at only 26.

He has saddled over 1300 winners to date and created some records that are unlikely to be touched in the world of national hunt racing, for some time.

McCoy rode his first winner less than seven years ago and has since gone from strength to strength, claiming five Champion Jockey titles.

For Tony McCoy, each way is not an option and the desire to win is stronger than ever.
