An exclusive Inside Sport documentary celebrates the life and times of Princess Anne, as the sports-mad Royal turns 60 on 15 August.

In a rare interview, John Inverdale talks to the Princess Royal about the many facets of her life, from being a member of the Royal family, a former Olympic athlete and a figurehead for Scottish rugby union, to her tireless work as a patron for over 200 charities and member of the London 2012 Olympic organising committee.

The programme closely examines Princess Anne's long career in sport and looks at how the Queen's only daughter remains so popular and highly-respected amongst ordinary people.

After winning the European Equestrian title in 1971, she famously won the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award and went on to compete at the 1976 Montreal Olympics.

Emlyn Hughes makes an unforgettable mistake

In the 1980's the Princess made a famous appearance on A Question of Sport, having been mistaken for a man in the Pictureboard round the week before by team captain Emlyn Hughes.

Dame Judi Dench and Lord Coe are among those paying tribute as the Princess Royal celebrates her 60th birthday.

We also hear a very personal insight from Princess Anne's children, Peter and Zara Phillips, who has successfully followed in her mother's equestrian footsteps.
