Boxing: Amateurs

Top amateur boxing from Liverpool where England take on Canada.

Super-heavyweight David Price skippers a team which includes featherweight Stephen Smith, light-welterweight Nathan Brough and heavyweight Anthony Bellew who is back from injury.

Between them, England and Canada have won 175 Commonwealth medals since the first games were held in 1930, and will be looking to add to those at next year's Games.

While most of the eight-strong squad will be hoping to secure a place Down Under, international debutants Lee Ballard (Repton) and Akash Bhatia (Eltham) will be hoping to force themselves into the selectors' thinking.

Show Jumping: European Championships

In Italy, Britain are chasing their first win for 16 years at the European Show Jumping Championships.

The squad boasts a wealth of experience with Nick Skelton and William Funnell joined by the Whitaker brothers John and Michael who already have 22 European medals between them.

The siblings - 19-year-old niece Ellen also hopes to get the chance to shine; the rising star from Barnsley was named in the original five-strong squad for the event which is being staged at San Patrignano.

Racing: Ascot at Newbury

Grandstand also has live coverage of the prestigious King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes from Newbury.

The 650,000 Group One event is the highlight of four live races on the middle day of Diamond Weekend.

Second only to Royal Ascot in stature, the meeting marks part of Newbury's centenary celebrations while Ascot undergoes a multi-million pound redevelopment.

Many great three-year-olds have added the King George to their Classic titles, including Nijinsky, Mill Reef, The Minstrel, Troy, Shergar, and Galileo while last year a magnificent performance from Doyen handed Godolphin their fifth win in this race.

Schedule:
1435 Williamson Diamond Handicap Stakes (86-105) (Class 2)
1510 Princess Margaret Stakes (Class 1) (Group 3)
1545 totesport International Stakes (Heritage Handicap) (Class 2)
1620 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes (Class 1) (Group 1)
