The Grandstand theme tune was specially composed for the show by Keith Mansfield, registered to KPM music Ltd.

Ans: The final Round package featuring Phil Mickelson at 2313 was called Pick Up, composed by Simon Green, performers Bomobo, track six on a CD called 'Dial M for Monkey.'


Dear Grandstand Music Buffs, can you tell me what the piece of music played on Saturday's build up to the Rugby League final, during the interviews with the two Sculthorpes.

It is so familiar, like a TV theme from the 70's but I can't place it!

Ans: The music is Midnight Cowboy, by John Barry (he of James Bond fame) from the film Midnight Cowboy.

You can get loads of versions - try looking for John Barry film compilations.


Qu: On Saturday's (30/4) edition of Football Focus there was a short feature about Danny Wallace. Accompanying it was a version of the song Danny Boy, and I just wondered who the version was by.

Ans: Hi Andrew, the first half of the Danny Wallace tribute was Harry Connick Jnr's version of Danny Boy. That was then mixed into Danny Boy, Danny Boy by House of Pain.


Qu: Hi, I love watching Football Focus and as a DJ I'm wondering what tune you play as you show the league tables, its a trancey tune but I can't ID it at all.

Qu: Thoroughly enjoyed Match of the Day's coverage on Saturday, but could you tell me the name of the song that played out the end of the programme? I can't seem to find this information and it is driving me mad!

Ans: The song is called "Girls" by Death in Vegas. You can find it on their album Scorpio Rising or on the soundtrack to the film Lost in Translation.

Ans: The band's name is Laverock, and they play a selection of Scottish folk and country music.
