Subject to contract
The BBC is inviting expressions of interest for sub licences of certain United Kingdom television transmission rights to the events listed at
in accordance with the European Broadcasting Union's sublicensing rules (the "EBU Rules") a copy of which is available at http://www.ebu.ch
- Any transmission rights granted will be for television transmission in the UK
- any UK "free to air" and "pay" television broadcasters who are not members of the EBU may bid for the rights.
- The specific material available for transmission will depend on the event in question.
- Any exclusivity agreed will be exclusive only as against other broadcasters in the same category (free to air or pay) as the sub licencee and will be in subject to :
- the BBC's own right to transmit
- the right of any pan European Channel to transmit
- existing sub licences
- (in the case of events that are listed under the United Kingdom's Listed Events legislation) the right of the BBC or relevant rightsholder to grant a licence of such live and/or delayed transmission rights, as they in their discretion decide, as a consequence of such legislation.

Trustee
The BBC has appointed an independent third party as trustee ("Trustee") (on terms (including confidentiality and conflict of interest) notified to the European Commission by the EBU) to monitor compliance with the EBU Rules. Complaints regarding the BBC's compliance with the EBU Rules should be made to the Trustee. The Trustee's details are : Mr Alan Hart, Cutwellwalls, Avonwick, South Brent, S. Devon, TQ10 9HA. Please note all correspondence between BBC and bidders and details of negotiations shall be disclosed to the Trustee (and if requested the European Commission) in addition details of negotiations may be disclosed to the rightsholder of the respective event and/or the EBU. Any expression of interest to the BBC by any person pursuant to the EBU Rules ("bidder") shall be deemed to be consent to such disclosure ("Authorised Disclosure").
Notes for bidders:
- This web page is no more than a request for an expression of interest and constitutes neither a contract nor an offer which is capable of acceptance by any person. It is bidders' responsibility to make any necessary enquiries before submitting bids. Bidders will be deemed to have made themselves fully aware of any matters which might affect or influence bids. No claim due to lack of knowledge or understanding will be entertained.
- This web page and any correspondence from BBC pursuant to it does not contain any representation upon which any person is entitled to rely at any point in time in order to bring any claim, action or proceedings against the BBC (whether for misrepresentation or otherwise).
- Any sub licence is subject to approval of the rightsholder of the respective event unless BBC notifies bidders otherwise. Biders will be required to agree, as a condition of any sub licence, that the BBC may disclose details of the sub licence to the relevant rightsholder, and/or the EBU and /or European Commission and/or the Trustee
- No person shall be entitled to make a bid or otherwise take part in any bidding process until such time as it has entered into a non-disclosure agreement ("NDA") with the BBC in a form acceptable to the BBC
- All discussions and correspondence between BBC and any bidder, are confidential and subject to the provisions above regarding Authorised Disclosure no announcement regarding any such discussions and correspondence may be made without the consent of the BBC (unless required by law).
