Henin charges into semis

But she cannot take advantage as she again drives the ball wildly out of the court. The French Open champion finishes off the game to 15 to effortlessly win the match.

Kuznetsova mixes up her tactics by coming into the net and does have more success against the Belgian. But yet more unforced errors on her forehand side take the game to deuce but Kuznetsova holds with a strong serve.

The third seed produces her second ace as she aims to finish off the match quickly. Henin-Hardenne's shouts of "allez" are getting more frequent as she wins points stylishly from the forehand and the backhand to hold.

The Russian continues to make unforced errors, making it easy work for Henin-Hardenne. Kuznetsova fires the ball way off course to give the Belgian advantage but pulls back to deuce with a second serve ace. Henin-Hardenne gets right round the net post to steal advantage again and sweeps the ball past the Russian on the next point to break.

The Belgian wastes no time in the second game, relying on her big serve to comfortably hold.

Kuznetsova rallies in the sixth game as she plays some solid forehands to take the game to deuce for a glimpse of a break. Henin-Hardenne immediately quashes that with her powerful serve and driving cross-court forehands.

There is more sloppy play from the Russian as she rattles the back in to the net to go 0-30 down. Henin-Hardenne looks good on her backhand and gently plays a drop shot over the net for 0-40. Kuznetsova wildly skews the ball off the court to hand the Belgian a double-break.

The Belgian delivers her trademark backhands for a 30-0 lead. The lack of atmosphere around Court One seems to affect the players and both players hit the ball rather loosely to take the game to deuce. Henin-Hardenne relies on her powerful serve to hold as Kuznetsova misses a chance to break.

The French Open champion puts the Russian under pressure on her serve to move to 0-30. It does not take long before Henin-Hardenne's driving forehands seal her the first break of the match.
