Second seed Kim Clijsters had no difficulty claiming a place in the last 16 as she raced to victory against Samantha Reeves 6-1 6-2.
The American, ranked 109th in the world, gave few problems to the French Open finalist, as the Belgian produced an awesome display.
The first set lasted just 20 minutes, as Clijsters' driving forehands and crisp passing shots bewildered her opponent and impressed the crowd, which included Clijsters' boyfriend Lleyton Hewitt.
Reeves hinted at a comeback as she broke early in the second set, but it proved a mere hiccup for Clijsters.
Clijsters will now play Ai Sugiyama for a third time this year after the Japanese
number one beat France's Nathalie Dechy 6-4 6-4.
Seventh seed Chanda Rubin saw her Wimbledon challenge ended by Italy's Silvia Farina Elia.
American Rubin lost 7-6 (8-6) 6-3 in a match which was interrupted by the rain on more than one occasion.
Elia, the 27th seed, needed five match points to seal her place in the fourth round where she will face Argentine Paola Suarez who beat Slovenia's Maja Matevzic 5-7 6-3 7-5.
Number four seed Venus Williams enjoyed an impressive win over Russia' s 29th seed Nadia Petrova.
The American gave her opponent little chance as she raced to a 6-1 6-2 win. She will face another Russian, Vera Zvonareva, in the fourth round.
