Roddick follows up three consecutive aces - his 11th, 12th and 13th of the match - with his first double fault of the match. A sudden couple of lapses in concentration result in him serving another to go break point down. But he recovers to hold.

Nalbandian enjoys a comfortable service game. He is playing very consistently and patiently and Roddick seems to be getting a little frustrated at not being able to break the Argentine down.

During the change of ends, an ATP trainer comes out to treat Nalbandian and straps the Argentine's left wrist. It doesn't seem to affect the 13th seed, however, as he holds his serve for the loss of just one point.
