Second Slam for doubles pair
Paola Suarez turns to celebrate with Virginia Ruano Pascual
Suarez lost in the second round of the singles event
Virginia Ruano Pascual of Spain and Paola Suarez of Argentina captured the US Open women's doubles title with a 6-2 6-1 rout of Russia's Elena Dementieva and Slovakia's Janette Husarova.

It was the second seeds' second Grand Slam doubles title this year.

The French Open champions broke their sixth-seeded opponents four times on their way to a 64-minute thrashing.

Dementieva and Husarova had beaten Ruano Pascual and Suarez on the hard courts at Indian Wells in March, but were no match for them on Sunday, failing to force a single break point.

It was a first appearance in a Grand Slam doubles final for Dementieva and Husarova.
