Seles has lost her rhythm, especially on her serve. Cho pumps her fist as she wins a punishing rally and she now has the confidence to approach the net. A double fault from Seles gives Cho set point. Seles saves it but Cho will not be denied and levels in a match which she had seemed on her way out of.

Seasoned baseliner Seles is forced to come forward and registers her first winner at the net in the entire match. Cho is hanging in well but Seles has only herself to blame for not having her feet up in the locker room by now. She must now come and out and serve to stay in the set.

Seles is serving with new balls but is still struggling to see off her qualifier opponent. The sixth seed tenses up and bangs a forehand wide, giving Cho a break point. Another skewed forehand and Cho is back on level terms in the set.

Cho goes 0-30 down but shows fighting spirit to win the next four points and put off the inevitable for at least another game.

In a carbon copy of Cho's prevous service game, the Korean goes 0-40 down. There is a murmur of sympathy in the sparse crowd as one of Cho's first serves bounces before it hits the net. Seles clinches the game - the match is becoming embarrassingly one-sided.

Seles is finding the lines all the time now and Cho is looking a bit dispirited as once again she is making no inroads on the American's serve.

Seles again applies the pressure and Cho finds herself 0-40 down. Seles converts her first break point and is now surely on course for the fourth round.

Seles is looking right at home and starts with a cheeky dropshot that leaves Cho stranded at the baseline. The Korean soon finds herself at 15-40 and a double fault hands Seles the double-break.

A double fault from Selesand some aggressive inside-out forehands from Cho give her two chances for an immediate break-back. Seles saves the first with some ferocious hitting and the second with a delicate dropshot. The American goes on to hold.
Seles 3-1 Cho
Cho is beginning to look more confident and advances to the net on the first point, winning it with an inside-out forehand. But Seles responds by attacking the net herself on the next point and the famous grunt is already reverberating around the court. Seles earns a break point and some heavy hitting forces the error from her opponent.

Seles seems keen to put as much early pressure on her inexperienced opponent as possible and is climbing all over Cho's serve. The qualifier is a bit intimidated, serving a double fault, but manages to hold.
