Player tactics

Roger Federer with the US Open trophy
Judy Murray:
Many observers talk of Roger Federer as being the greatest player ever, but what is it that is so special about him?

Physically he is in great shape - fast and deceptively powerful. He has tremendous anticipation and quick reactions and like all ultra-talented sportsmen, never looks hurried. He covers the court with grace and ease.

His court presence is unquestionable - he rarely loses control of his emotions or his strokes. He is, quite rightly, totally confident in his ability because he is technically secure on all shots.
