Greg Rusedski started well against Lleyton Hewitt in the second round of the Cincinnati Masters

But Hewitt levelled at one set all after saving several break points in the second set

And the Australian edged a tight third to send the British number two crashing out

Rising star Andy Murray faced a top-five player for the first time in fourth seed Marat Safin

Safin was well below his best and looked in trouble after dropping the second set 6-1

But the Russian's power proved too much in the decider and Murray's Cincinnati run came to an end

But the British number one could not overcome his recent slump in form against the Argentine

Chela came through in straight sets to complete a disappointing day for the Brits in Cincinnati
