Fourth set

Robredo 6-4 Kuerten

Robredo piles on the pressure, but Kuerten keeps calm and saves two match-points as he gives himself one last chance to save the match.

Robredo 4-3 Kuerten
Kuerten is now deep in trouble - Robredo fires two forehand winners and a brilliant topspin lob to move to 0-40. Kuerten saves one, but a poor volley gives Robredo the chance to clinch the break.

Robredo shows no sign of allowing Kuerten to get back into the match, and again shows his killer touch with the drop-shot as he also holds.

Robredo 0-1 Kuerten
Kuerten shows his experience and holds easily, but his task is not made any easier by the knowledge that Robredo has never lost a five-set match.

Third set

Robredo 7-6 Kuerten
Robredo comes alive in the tiebreak, using the drop-shot to devastating effect as he opens a 4-0 lead.

Kuerten gets one mini-break back with a drop of his own, but Robredo then fires two brilliant passes as he moves to 6-2.

He claims the set at the first time of asking as he moves in and fires a winning overhead.

Robredo 6-6 Kuerten
Kuerten has found a nice rhythm on serve, and clinches his place in the tiebreak with his fifth ace of the contest.

Robredo 6-5 Kuerten
Robredo does not let the disappointment get to him, and Kuerten does more damage to the net judge as a misplaced backhand catches him full in the face.

Robredo 5-5 Kuerten
Kuerten gets out of jail, saving five set-points in the game. One is thanks to a miraculous drop shot, but at least two have an element of luck. But Guga pulls out the big serves when he needs them, and draws level with two straight aces.

Robredo 5-4 Kuerten
Kuerten breaks back, but it is largely thanks to Robredo letting his level slip. The Brazilian opens up a 15-40 lead and Robredo nets a forehand to lose the break.

Robredo 5-3 Kuerten
Guga's concentration seems to have gone and another unforced error gives Robredo two break-points. And a brilliant forehand pass gives the Spaniard the chance to serve for the set.

Robredo 4-3 Kuerten
The level of intensity drops for almost the first time in the set. Both players throw in unforced errors, but Kuerten's outnumber Robredo's and the Spaniard holds.

Robredo 3-3 Kuerten
It's tit-for-tat at the moment as Kuerten holds serve to level the match.

Robredo 3-2 Kuerten
Robredo shows touch to go with his power, putting in a deft drop-shot as holds to 30.

Robredo 2-2 Kuerten
Neither player is dominant on serve, and this time Robredo moves to 0-30 on his opponent's serve. But Kuerten ups his level again, hitting a textbook topspin backhand winner and then a peachy forehand to close the game out.

Robredo 2-1 Kuerten
The match is now bubbling nicely, and Kuerten ups the ante to earn three break-back points at 0-40. Robredo saves the first with a fine drop-shot and then Kuerten nets on the second to threaten the comeback. But his adrenaline gets the better of him and he fires a forehand long to hand back the break.

Robredo 1-5 Kuerten
The Brazilian starts to let fly with a lucky winner off the net but a fine forehand that is too powerful for Robredo before a backhand pass clinches a second break.

Robredo 1-4 Kuerten
Kuerten is still struggling to find his rhythm and fires a routine forehand into the net and then another wide to fall to 0-30. But he then clicks and moves to 40-30 before firing the first ace of the match to open up a 4-1 lead.

Robredo 1-3 Kuerten
Kuerten overhits a backhand and then a forehand as he allows Robredo a comfortable hold. The Brazilian is clearly playing somewhere below his best.

Robredo 0-3 Kuerten
Robredo troubles Kuerten with his powerful forehand, and battles back from 40-0 to deuce. But the Brazilian keeps his nerve and still holds.

Robredo 0-2 Kuerten
The second set is starting in the same pattern as the first as Kuerten breaks Robredo on his first service game. But Robredo will kick himself after missing two break-points in the last game and throwing away a 40-0 lead in this one.

Robredo 0-1 Kuerten
Kuerten has to dig deep to win his first game in six as he blows a 40-15 lead and is forced to save two break-points. He does, and then serves out to stop the rot.
