1. Jennifer Capriati
Remarkably, Jennifer Capriati was just 14 when she played at the French Open for the first time and staggered her rivals by moving into the fourth round of the second Grand Slam of the season. Due to personal problems and injury she missed four years of the tournament but she hit back last year by winning the crown at her eighth attempt. Another strong, physical presence on court, she has carried her form of 2001 into this season, winning the Australian Open. Has already won $5m in prize money as a professional.
