8. Sandrine Testud

DOB: 03.04.1972
Nationality: French
World Ranking: 10
Previous French Open results:
2001 :: fourth round
2000 :: third round
1999 :: second round
1998 :: fourth round

Experienced Fed Cup player who will have to shake off some niggling injuries to be at her best.

Testud was out of action for six weeks from March after suffering a stress fracture in her right foot, and twisted her ankle badly during a comeback tournament.

Rarely a threat during the latter stages of a grand slam, Testud's game lacks the power and variety necessary to compete with the big-hitters.

However, her compact style has already seen her reclaim her throne as French number one this year after reaching the quarter-finals in Berlin.
