A resilient player, her game plan was typified when she overturned two match points against her to beat Mary Pierce 6-4 3-6 7-6 at Sarasota in April. Has a wicked two-handed backhand, which was used to good effect in defeats of defending champion Jelena Dokic and Daniela Hantuchova at the Rome Masters. Her career highlight came when she represented her country at the Sydney Olympics but at only 20, much more is expected of the Moscovite. |
