Dokic's record at Roland Garros is a tale of unfulfilled potential: she has never been beyond the third round of the main singles.

Last year, seeded at a Grand Slam for the first time, she fell to qualifier Petra Mandula in the third round - but reached the doubles final with Conchita Martinez.

Dokic was also awarded the Prix Bourgeon award - given by the media to the most promising player of the tournament.

So far in 2002 she has been dogged by illness and injury but still won the singles and doubles titles at Sarasota in April and only a thigh problem stopped her competing in the final of the Paris Indoors.

If Dokic stays fit and finds some consistency, her tenacious and agressive style will give her a real advantage on the slow clay.
