12. Pete Sampras
Sampras has rarely underachieved in his career, except perhaps on the clay of Roland Garros where his best finish has been a semi-final spot in 1996. Now a veteran of the tour at 30, this season could prove his last chance to make an impact in the Parisian capital. However, his results on the European clay swing have been far from impressive and it will be some surprise if he survives beyond the first few rounds. The mind may still be willing but the body is now unable to respond. |
