Night matches at the Australian Open have proved popular
The 2005 Australian Open men's singles final will be played on Sunday evening for prime time local televison.

Tournament director Paul McNamee said the women's final will still be on Saturday afternoon, with both men's semis on Thursday and Friday nights.

"The men's semis will be played at the same time to replicate the conditions of the Sunday night final," McNamee told a news conference.

The 2005 final will start at 7.30pm local time (0830 GMT).

Currently the US Open women's singles final is the only other Grand Slam final played at night.
