Petrova enjoyed her best year ever at Grand Slam level in 2001 making it to the last 16 at Roland Garros and Wimbledon.

Her stay at the Australian Open was brief however as she slipped out of the competition at the second round stage.

The best she has ever managed in her three appearances in Melbourne was her third-round showing the previous year.

Since turning pro in 1997 she is yet to claim a singles title but has collected three doubles trophies.
