Robredo was a late addition to the list of seeds following the withdrawal of his compatriot Juan Carlos Ferrero.

The Spaniard reached three finals last year and won his first title at the third attempt in Sopot, Poland.

In his Grand Slam season debut he reached the last sixteen at both the French and US Opens and claimed the scalp of Juan Carlos Ferrero in the latter.

He comes to his second Australian Open on a high having just won the Hopman Cup in partnership with Aranxta Sanchez-Vicario.
